Introducing Gold Standard Week

Back in February, I started sharing the Marco Gold Standard with all of you. It’s a philosophy we’ve developed to ensure Marco’s culture stays strong as our company continues to grow and expand. Today, we’re kicking off Gold Standard Week, where we’ll be focusing on all four pillars that make up our Gold Standard. If you haven’t had the chance, you can learn about our Gold Standard here.

Gold Standard Week at Marco

Gold Standard Week CommitteeEach day this week (Monday through Friday), we’ve planned activities and opportunities based on the four pillars of our Gold Standard: client satisfaction, vendor partnerships, community support and employee engagement. Here’s a sneak peek at what the week entails.

Monday: Gold Standard Week kicks off today with a video from our executive team giving our employees the lowdown on the week’s events and the pillars that support them. We'll be pushing out our 30th annual employee survey, which is a very important part of sustaining our culture. We'll also be featuring a financial webinar from Fidelity that will cover financial health for our employees.

Tuesday: This day is all about community involvement. There will be different educational messages throughout the day, focusing on volunteerism, our charitable giving program, the United Way and Junior Achievement. We’ll also be asking employees to share how they volunteer or stay active in their communities as a way to help us further support employees in their community interests. On Tuesday we'll also have a drawing for four winners to choose a charity that Marco will donate to.

Wednesday: Employees are encouraged to wear jeans this day, and branch locations will be bringing in breakfast for their employees. Marco's Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Warrey, will be presenting a live webinar on professional growth and development. All attendees will get put in a drawing to win a variety of subscription boxes.

Thursday: We’ll be showcasing a number of our vendors via video, where they’ll share what a partnership with Marco means to them. While some of our employees work closely with our vendors, others don’t have that opportunity. We want Marco employees company-wide to have strong ties to our vendor partners. On Thursday we're also encouraging each branch office to host a social hour with snacks, beverages and yard games.

Friday: On the final day of Gold Standard Week, we'll be launching a Marco FitBit platform where employees can purchase discounted FitBits and participate in fitness challenges throughout the year. Finally, we will toast the end of Gold Standard Week by holding root beer float socials with some of our clients.

Many of the participatory portions of Gold Standard Week come with the opportunity for employees to enter to win prizes. On Friday, we’ll hold drawings and giveaways and notify the lucky winners!

How Are We Making It All Happen?

Even though I’m the one telling you about Gold Standard Week, there is a large group of individuals who helped all of the pieces come together. Internally, we’ve had committees, co-chairs, executive leadership and many different departments contributing. Plus, quite a few of our vendor partners have been more than generous in supporting the week’s activities. We’re so thankful to our vendors for helping us bring events like Gold Standard Week to reality.

What are We Hoping to Accomplish?

Our main goal for the week is for it to bring the company even closer together than it already is. We couldn’t do what we do without our employees, vendors, communities and clients. Each of the four is essential, and all four areas rely on each other all the time. We hope that Gold Standard Week helps those in all four areas feel supported, connected and appreciated. If we’ve done that, we’ve done well.

And if you haven't already, be sure to follow us on Facebook - our Social Squad will be in full force documenting and sharing the week’s activities!
