Audio video web conferencing is a necessity in today’s business world. And whether you’re hosting or joining, you can tell a lot about how a business communicates based on the quality of their conferencing systems. Today, I’m going to lead you through a demonstration of Mitel’s video conferencing system, MiCollab, which is part of our UCaaS solution. Watch the video and I’ll outline some of the features below:

Setting Up a Meeting

Scheduling a MiCollab audio video web conference is simple. And because it’s powered by Mitel technology, you can be rest assured it’s designed with the users mind. In fact, you can do it in seven steps:

  1. Open your Outlook calendar
  2. Choose the allotted time slot
  3. Start a new meeting invite
  4. Enter attendees
  5. Put a subject line
  6. Choose your MiCollab settings or select preconfigured settings
  7. Send the invite

That’s it.

Joining a Meeting

When you’re joining a conference, you want the experience to be intuitive. Click the “join meeting” link, which brings you to a webpage. From there, you can choose to join via the web or through a local Windows client. Either way, once you enter the conference, you’re able to see who is already in the conference and you’re presented with multiple options:

  • Sharing – share applications, your full screen or part of your screen
  • Video – choose to turn on video and broadcast video to all meeting participants
  • Audio – participate in the audio portion by calling in via your computer, calling in via dial-in number, or having the system call you
  • Documents – manage the contents in the Conference Documents area, including sharing stored and pre-uploaded content
  • Exit meeting – leave the meeting as an individual user and close the application while other participants continue
  • End meeting – remove all participants from the meeting and close this application – ends the conference for all users

Additional Features

Beyond the standard conferencing options, there are some additional features end-users tend to appreciate:

  • Public chat – where all users can engage in text-based communication
  • Private chat – where you can select one participant in the conference and engage in private text-based communication
  • Invite additional participants – the option to invite participants who were not originally included in the meeting invite
  • Polling – post questions to the group and receive feedback in real time during a meeting
  • Locking – prevent any additional participants from joining the conference to create a secure conference environment
  • File transfer – natively transfer files within the applications to an individual user
  • Recorder – start recording the meeting and play recordings back
